2026 is an exciting year for The Arcadian Singers. We sang at Westminster Cathedral in February, performed Scarlatti's Stabat Mater and Bach's Jesu Meine Freude in March, and have a full diary well into the summer.
The choir has also commissioned music by three young British composers, to be explored in masterclass at the Royal Academy of Music and summer concert, Immortal Fire.
We are enormously grateful to all those who champion the choir by attending our performances, and we are excited by new opportunities to expand our reach and repertoire. Such opportunities, however, do not come without a cost. The choir has a modest budget that goes towards its essential needs, including licensing and printing of music, venue hire and accompaniment fees; however, the support that we receive in the form of donations makes a real difference in enabling us to sustain these activities and be ambitious in what we do.
In this our 50th anniversary year, we are seeking your generous support to enable the choir to go above and beyond in its programming, and to offer opportunities for growth for our members and the musicians we work with. We hope that, in turn, we will be able to deliver crowd-pleasing performances that inspire and cultivate a love for choral music, new and old, amongst our audiences.
Across the year, the choir expects to spend £1,000 commissioning new music, £3,500 on venue hire and £5,000 booking professional musicians, in particular to enhance our performance of Acis and Galatea, which we hope will be the jewel in the crown of our 50th anniversary repertoire.
